Terry Emerson De Coteau, was born in Lewisham London, United Kingdom. In the 1970´s his parents returned to Trinidad & Tobago to live.

His love affair with music started at the age of seven with the piano, moving onto the guitar few years later. At the age of 14 he started to learn to play the saxophone with his long time teacher Mr Stafford Parris. They started an in dept study in all eight grades of the Royal Academy of music, and the Trinity school of music. After completing eight years of study with Mr. Parris, Terry went on to study arranging to follow in the footsteps of Art De Coteau, his cousin.

Name: Art De Coteau, Artie as he was called, was the main man in the early days of Calypso, to arrange the music for the calypsonians. Big names on the island, ie Mighty Sparrow, Lord Duke, and his good friend Black Stalin and many more relied on his arranging skills.

Calypso influences: Calypso has influenced jazz over the years as early as Duke Ellington and some of the biggest names in the business, for example Saxophonist Sonny Rollins, Grover Washington Jr, and a host of big names in the jazz world. Special thanks to Art De Coteau and the role he has played in the calypso movement, to making calypso into what it is today. This is why Terry wants to carry on influencing other musical forms. In his new project with Italo José,the new calypso samba fusion style takes the listener to a new levels of musical experiences.
